DAY 34 - WISDOM
During my cancer treatment, I explored other options for my healing. I attended conventions on herbal medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, and even an 8-Day IPMT (International Postgraduate Medical Training on Anthroposophic Medicine) in Iloilo City. Anthroposophic Medicine is a spiritual science founded by Rudolf Steiner using the wisdom of man. It teaches not just the healing of the body but healing of the mind, soul, and spirit as well. I also joined the Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine and became a Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) facilitator. I ventured into Culinary Medicine. I even attended the Culinary Medicine Workshop held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao City in February 2, 2019 because I wanted to be a Certified Culinary Medicine coach and chef with my own teaching kitchen in the future. Culinary Medicine is not gourmet cooking. It blends the art of food and cooking with the science of medicine. Dietary recommendations have scientific basis including those for cancer prevention and treatment.
When you explore options for your healing, choose wisely. Investigate whether the recommendations are based on scientific evidences, have been carefully studied, and not purely anecdotal. Pay for value rather than empty promises. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment with regards to the choice of your treatment regimen. The recommendations of the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) and the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) for the non-smokers are as follows:
1. Maintain a normal range for weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) 2. Exercise regularly about 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week 3. Eat healthfully like a predominantly whole food plant based diet .
From 1 Corinthians 1:25, "For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength."
Lord, Jesus Christ, You bore our sufferings and carried our sorrows. May you send the Holy Spirit to guide us as we decide what treatment will be best for us. Enlighten our minds to weigh the choices set before us. We ask for the
intercession of Mama Mary as we entrust our body, our soul, our goods, both interior and exterior, and the value of all our good actions to Her. In Jesus Name. AMEN.
