Are you always in a hurry in the morning to prepare breakfast for everyone? You want something healthy that you and your kids can enjoy but don't want the hassle of meal preparation and cooking. Here is a simple recipe for a healthy breakfast which your picky eater will surely love that will make him empty his plate or bowl, too.


Preparation time: 5 minutes

Soaking time: 10-15 minutes

Serves: 2


1 cup rolled oats

1 cup orange juice

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 apple, cored and grated

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon chia seeds

fresh fruits in season


  1. Combine oats with orange juice, lemon juice and grated apple, and allow to soak for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Sprinkle with cinnamon and chia seeds, and serve with fresh fruits of your choice or in season like mango, banana, grapes or cherries. You can also add raisins.

  3. To prepare the evening before, combine oats with orange juice, lemon juice and cinnamon and soak overnight. Add grated apple, chia seeds and and other fresh fruit in the morning for a delicious breakfast.

  4. TIP: You can replace the orange juice with ripe mango juice and the lemon juice with calamansi juice.
