Cancer Made Ridiculously Simple

I think I’m a lot like you. I just want to spend quality time with my family. I also want to travel when it is safer, without restrictions nor requirements in the future. Most of all, I want to share my message to the world about awakening the healer within ourselves.

I’m Doc Joy. I'm a wholistic physician at the 3H Cancer Recovery Center where we help cancer patients with mental health problems to have peace of mind without using medications in the comfort of their homes. We believe that cancer is not just a physical illness. Cancer encompasses the spiritual, mental, emotional and social states of an individual. How do I know this? I have been a cancer patient myself. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. I've gone through the usual medical interventions like surgery one week before Christmas. I had my left breast removed with the lymph nodes attached to it but left a scar which extended from the midline of my chest up to my left armpit. After one month, I had my chemotherapy because I tested positive for 1 lymph node out of 18. I lost my hair after 3 weeks, my sense of taste became different and my nails became blue and brittle, had ridges that some of them fell off. When I finished my chemotherapy, I had to take an oral hormonal therapy for 5 years because I was positive for estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor. During my treatment, I asked myself: "Is that it? What's next?" Because the greatest fear of every cancer patient is the fear of recurrence and I am no different. I explored other options for my healing and through a series of trial and error, I found a system that worked for me to stop my cancer from recurring and to be a cancer survivor for more than 10 years and counting. This system is what I teach my patients. But before I go into the details let me discuss what cancer is in the simplest way possible.

What is cancer? What causes cancer?

Cancer are cells that appear normal at first but due to repeated oxidative stress or chronic inflammation brought about by external and internal factors, free radicals are formed. When these substances accumulate and are not removed because your immune system is impaired, they damage the normal cells through different mechanisms. In an attempt to repair the damage, the cells undergo changes to restore the body in its normal state to the point of being killed through a pre-programmed cell death called apoptosis just like hara-kiri wherein the cells kill themselves when they are damaged, or they undergo autophagy, like cannibalism in a cellular sense. because the cells eat themselves. If the stress or inflammation go on for prolonged periods in time and the protective processes fail, the cells become resistant to cell death. They change in size and shape by becoming bigger and irregular and even change their structure or composition. If these abnormal cells stay within their boundaries, they become a benign tumor, except when they occur in the brain. When these cells encroach into adjacent cells and invade other tissues and organs, they become cancer cells. Some of them slough off or detach from the primary lesion and are transported into nearby structure or distant organs through the lymphatic system and blood vessels to reach the lungs, the liver, the bones and the brain which is the process called metastasis.

No one knows the exact cause of cancer but there are factors that increase your risk of developing cancer like age, the older you are, the higher the risk, especially those above 65 years old. Imagine a car that did not undergo periodic maintenance so that it can run smoothly or an old battered car that has not been repaired when the tires are thin out, the battery is dead and rust accumulates in the body. That's what happens in cancer due to abuse or misuse, although younger individuals can also develop cancer. Your lifestyle, like what you eat, drink, or do is also a risk factor. Unhealthy diet, smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages and sedentary lifestyle increase your risk of developing cancer . Heredity also plays a role but only 5-10 % of cancer patients have this risk factor because your DNA is not your destiny but your diet is. You can turn off your cancer genes if you eat a healthy diet. Besides. what you eat now can affect your children and your grandchildren as explained through epigenetics.

There are two root causes for cancer to develop, recur or progress, namely, toxicity and deficiency. Toxicity refers to the presence of poisons or toxins in your body which are not supposed to be there like unhealthy food such as high fat, high salt and high sugar and processed food and drink, infectious agents like bacteria (H. pylori) and viruses like hepatitis B and human papilloma virus which can cause liver cancer and cervical cancer, respectively. Chemicals like drugs, pesticides, and food preservatives as well as ionizing radiation like what happened in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima during world war 2 can predispose one to have cancer or worsen it. Excessive negative emotions and thoughts are also toxins that can eat you alive.

On the other end of the spectrum is deficiency. There is something lacking in your body like vitamins and minerals because you don't eat fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices which oppose inflammation. You don't expose yourself to the sun to get the required dose of vitamin D. You don't drink the required amount of water that you need to remain hydrated. You don't also get enough sleep to repair your body and create new brain cells. You also lack the fruits of the spirit like love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control as well as gratitude, excitement and service because you choose to live alone and not develop social connectivity.

It is now time to ask yourself: "What is the meaning of my cancer? What is its positive intention? What is cancer trying to teach me in terms of my spiritual life, my family and other social relationships and also my physical, mental and emotional fitness? Once you find out these things, how do you overcome cancer?

In my next blog, I will teach you how to diagnose and manage cancer as well as stop your cancer from recurring or progressing by building peace of mind through the right mindset.

But for now, I want you to write your questions or comments below. Stay safe.
